Class A state champion Biddeford High School was the only school to place two players on the Volleyball All-State First Team.
Senior captains Alyssa Drapeau and Keila Grigware helped guide Biddeford to a 3-0 sweep of Falmouth to earn the state title on Oct. 30.
Other first-team selections included Megan Phelps of Mount Desert Island of Bar Harbor, Kate Sparks of Falmouth, Taylor Davis of Washington Academy of East Machias, Abbie Hutchinson of Yarmouth and Brittany Bona of Scarborough.
Drapeau, a four-year starter, totaled 172 kills with 56 serving aces, 171 digs, 23 blocks and 220 set assists. Setter/outside hitter Grigware totaled 186 kills, 53 serving aces, eight blocks, 92 digs and 37 set assists.
Senior outside hitter Taylor Davis helped lead the Raiders to the Class B state crown after WA swept past Calais 3-0. Davis only played in five matches after sitting out most of the season with a dislocated kneecap. She cheered the team from the sidelines while injured. She returned Oct. 1 and was a key contributor to the Raiders in the playoffs. She had 47 kills, 28 aces, 3 blocks, 44 digs, 18 set assists and 57 serve receptions.
Senior Megan Phelps helped lead the Trojans to the No. 2 seed in Class A. She tallied 174 kills, 63 digs, 39 aces, 36 blocks, 103 set assists and had a regular season record of 53-3 as a varsity player at MDI.
Falmouth’s Sparks had 107 kills, 32 aces, 27 blocks, 176 digs, 26 set assists and 185 serve receptions. Hutchinson of Yarmouth had 109 kills, 46 aces, 58 blocks, 60 digs, 37 set assists and 54 serve receptions and Scarborough’s Bona, the only junior on the first team, posted 152 kills, 43 serving aces, 25 blocks, 66 digs and 99 serve receptions.
Second-team selections included Sarah Warnock of Greely, Alana Becker of Falmouth, India Ross of MDI, Alyssa Marson of Cony of Augusta, Shannan Brown of Calais and Washington Academy’s Taylor Seeley.
Senior captain Seeley posted 79 kills, 52 aces, 22 blocks, 35 digs, 13 set assists and 78 serve receptions for the Raiders.
MDI setters/outside hitter Ross, the only junior on the second team, had 60 kills, 67 aces, 62 digs and 10 blocks while Cony’s Marson totaled 122 kills, 45 aces, 49 blocks, 79 digs and 98 serve receptions.
Warnock, who only played in five matches for Greely, had six aces, nine blocks, 13 set assists and 64 serve receptions. Falmouth outside hitter Becker had 56 kills, 11 aces, 108 digs, five set assists and 133 serve receptions.
Honorable mention selections were MDI’s Destiny Kanu, Yarmouth’s Mary Sansone, Kennebunk’s Hannah Rollins and Vickie Parker of Gorham.
